“Travel & Leisure Membership Service Platform” Boosts GBA Yacht Free-Travel PolicyOrganizers push to position Hong Kong as Asia’s yacht economy hub

The Travel & Leisure Membership Service Platform was officially launched on November 7, dedicated to providing clients in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area who pursue a premium lifestyle with diverse, high-end travel experiences and exclusive membership privileges — all designed to create the ultimate leisure enjoyment. The organizers envision driving the growth of the regional “yachting economy” through this platform, positioning Hong Kong as the “Monaco of Asia.”

Distinguished guests attending the launch ceremony included Mr. CF Yu, Founder of Travel & Leisure Group; Mr. Tommy Ho, CEO of the Hong Kong Yachting Association; Mr. Fredrick Fung, CEO of Wui Hong Yacht Co. Ltd; and Ms. Zhen Meiyi from Nam Kwong Culture and Creativity Industry Co. Ltd.

Mr. CF Yu stated that the platform was created in response to the government’s “Greater Bay Area Yacht Free Travel” policy, with the aim of promoting safe and convenient marine connectivity, fostering regional cooperation in tourism, meeting growing market demand for yachting activities, and advancing the development of high-end travel and leisure services.

Riding the Wave of Opportunity

Leveraging the occasion of the 15th Macao International Yacht Expo in 2025, Travel & Leisure Group officially unveiled the Membership Service Platform. The platform offers a wealth of exclusive travel experiences and membership benefits for clients seeking a high-quality lifestyle. Mr. Yu noted that this event allows participants to personally experience the joy of yacht-based free travel across the Bay Area while reinforcing Hong Kong’s role in aligning with government policy to establish a new economic brand — enhancing the city’s status as a leading Asian metropolis.

Mr. CF Yu, Founder of Travel & Leisure Group also emphasized that the Group will collaborate with industry elites to create more opportunities for young people to engage in revitalizing the “blue economy.” He cited Monaco as a successful model, where the yacht industry is deeply integrated with the economy. The sector contributes roughly 3% of Monaco’s GDP, generates substantial employment, and spurs adjacent regional growth — particularly in southern France, where the yachting industry has an estimated economic impact of €1.1 billion and provides over 10,000 jobs.

Insights on the Yachting Economy

Monaco’s thriving yachting service sector — encompassing marinas, yacht clubs, and charter operations — has driven ongoing upgrades to local ports and maritime infrastructure while boosting transportation, utilities, and other public facilities. The yacht economy’s ripple effects across southern France highlight its role in both technological innovation and tourism-related job creation.

According to data from the International Council of Marine Industry Associations, if Hong Kong were developed into a central yacht hub of the Bay Area, the industry could generate approximately HKD 3 billion in annual service revenue and HKD 1.5 billion in trade value — a combined yearly economic contribution of HKD 4.5 billion.
